Obituary: Angeline (Sacramone) Cama, 90, of Madison

She and her late husband owned and operated NAPA/Campus Auto Parts, Inc. of New Haven. In her retirement, she volunteered.

At Connecticut Hospice, Branford, on Sunday, March 4, 2018, Angeline (Sacramone) Cama, of Madison, CT at 90 years young, passed peacefully into eternal life. Born October 9, 1927 in New Haven, CT, to the late Domenic and Concetta (Tirolleto) Sacramone, Angeline was predeceased by her husband Thomas G Cama and her brother John Sacramone. Beloved mother of Rosalyn Cama (Ronald Mazzacane) of Madison with whom she resided, Thomas J Cama of New Haven, Frances Guidone (Gregory) of Madison, and John G Cama (Marylou Scofield) of Plymouth, VT. Loving grandmother to Elizabeth Guidone, Sarah Guidone, and Thomas P Cama, as well as to many in her extended family including John and Katie Gavin (Scofield).

Angie, as she was known, graduated in 1947 from Larson’s College for Women (Quinnipiac University) and built a career in automotive insurance/finance. She and her late husband owned and operated NAPA/Campus Auto Parts, Inc. of New Haven. In her retirement, she volunteered and participated in many non-profit organizations. First in New Haven’s Fort Nathan Hale and Black Rock Fort, the Morris Cove Garden Club, and at the New Haven Festival of Arts and Ideas where she shared her family’s story of immigration from Italy to New Haven in the early 1900’s.

In 2005 she moved to Madison, CT, where she was an active member of the St Margaret’s Women’s Fellowship, the Madison Garden Club, and the Madison Senior Center where she was an enthusiastic captain of her bocce team. As a young inductee into the Children of Mary Sodality, through the Apostles of the Sacred Heart, she developed a lifelong devotion to Mother Mary. Through these and other organizations, she established many loving friendships.

Proud of her Italian heritage, she participated with her family in the a’League Abruzzese, later sharing generational stories and many cooking traditions that entertained and delighted family and friends near and far. Angie embodied an “e’spirit de corps” of every do-good gathering she joined.

She extended camaraderie with an infectious smile touching many generations, leaving a beautiful legacy that will be warmly extended.In lieu of flowers and in observance to the Lenten tradition of the abstinence, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Retirement Fund (295 Benham St, Hamden, CT 06514, ascjus.org) and/or to the Madison Garden Club (PO Box 29, Madison, CT 06443) where a Kitchen Garden at the Madison Senior Center will be planted to honor her legacy.

Friends may call Sunday, March 11th from 4-7pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Margaret’s Church, 24 Academy St. Madison on Monday, March 12th at 10am. Interment immediately following at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The family wishes to express joyful feelings with so many who shared Angeline’s beautiful 90 years of la dolce vita.
