Obituary: ​Frank E. Kiernan Jr. of Madison

He was a true outdoorsman, who loved golfing, hunting, fishing and boating, and loved his family and lived life to the fullest.

Frank E. Kiernan Jr. of Madison, CT passed away on Wednesday, November 8th at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband for 56 years to his wife Nancy Kiernan, a Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle. Born in Oceanside, NY on June 10th, 1939 he was the son of the late Madeline and Frank Kiernan Sr. He graduated from Freeport High School in Long Island, NY in 1957, and later graduated from Syracuse University where he became an All-American lacrosse player.

Following college, Frank served his country in the Air Force Reserve. Throughout his successful career in sales, he was employed for many years by the General Electric Co., and later by Grainger Inc. Most of all, he was a true outdoorsman, who loved golfing, hunting, fishing and boating, and loved his family and lived life to the fullest. He is survived by his children; Susan Decerbo and her husband Chris, and his Grand Daughter Kelly of Old Saybrook, CT, Frank Kiernan III, of Orlando, FL, and Dennis Kiernan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and also his beloved dog L.C. His is also survived by his sister Joan Frey of Cocoa Beach, FL, and his brother Dennis Kiernan of Saratoga Springs, NY.

The family expresses deepest gratitude to the loving care of Hospice. Friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, November 14, from 4 – 8 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Services and Burial will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT 06405.
