Obituary: Jay Dougherty 73, of Madison

Jay Dougherty 73, husband of Donna Dougherty, of Madison passed away unexpectedly on May 3 2016 at their house in Florida. He was born August 3rd 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA

He attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA

Jay retired in 2004 after being self-employed and owner of The Boston Sales Group, an independent manufacturers' rep agency for 25 years.

Jay was a resident of Madison for almost 40 years. Jay and Donna, married in 1964, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Jay was a devoted father who cherished time spent with family.

He enjoyed working in the yard and garden and spending time with his 7 grandchildren.
He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, enjoyed bocce, model trains, golfing and spent most of his time gardening. He volunteered for meals on wheels and Holiday Food Baskets.

He will be most remembered for his sarcastic wit. In addition to wife Donna, he is survived and will be dearly missed by: His three sons, Daniel of St. Pete Beach, FL. Sean, his wife Dana, their son Shane of San Jose, CA and daughter Sarah of Boston, MA. Jeff, his wife Melissa, their three daughters Rachel, Hannah and Julia of Madison, CT. His one daughter, Dara Terrio, her husband Peter, their two sons Michael and Ryan of Madison, CT.

Jay's siblings: Daniel, Sister Carol, Michael, Maureen, Timothy and Kevin.

Visitation hours, Thursday May 12th, 4-7pm Swan funeral home Madison. Funeral Mass, Friday May 13th, 11am St. Margaret's Church
