Obituary: ​Marilyn C. Nicklas, 85, of Madison

Marilyn was a longtime resident of Madison, CT where she was employed for over 35 years at the Union Trust Bank (now Wells Fargo).

Marilyn C. Nicklas, 85, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2016 at Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Saybrook, CT. She was born in New Haven, CT on January 13, 1931, the only child of the late John and Jean Clark of North Haven, CT.

Marilyn was a 1948 Hamden High School graduate, a 1952 graduate of Pembroke College in Brown University majoring in Political Science, and a life-long member of the Danish Sisterhood in Hamden, CT.

Marilyn was a longtime resident of Madison, CT where she was employed for over 35 years at the Union Trust Bank (now Wells Fargo), Madison Branch. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling.

After retiring, she took many trips including Ireland, Nova Scotia, France and Oberammergau, Germany for the Passion Play.

Marilyn was accompanied by all her daughters and her granddaughter on her last trip – to Italy in 2007.Marilyn was devoted to her family and is survived by her four beloved ‘girls’ and their husbands: Pamela and Steven Rizk of Sparta, NJ; Barbara and Lane Gesner of Madison, CT; Sharon and Brad Lough of Annville, PA; and Janet Nicklas and Ned Boundy of Guilford, CT.

She is also remembered with love by her grandchildren: Michael and Sarah Rizk of Sutton, MA; Jennifer (Rizk) and Luis Rodrigues-Cortes of Crownsville, MD; Matthew Gesner of Rochester, NY; Daniel Gesner of Madison, CT; and Adam Lough of Pittsburgh, PA. Marilyn is also survived by Carol (Nicklas) and C. Ross Campbell of Port Washington, WI, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Stanley F. Nicklas, Jr.Marilyn’s family would like to thank the staff of Gladeview for the wonderful care they provided.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford, CT. A brief service will be held at 7:00 pm.

Burial will be private.
