Plans for Portable Ice Rink to be Placed in Downtown Madison Discussed
Madison officials also discussed a new law that requires towns to pay the state sales tax on non-metered parking areas.

The Madison Beach and Recreation Commission met last month and a couple of interesting topics were discussed at the meeting, according to meeting minutes.
A new law that went into effect on July 1 regarding paying sales tax on non-metered parking areas that hold more than 40 cars was discussed, according to meeting minutes.
Towns are now being required to pay sales tax to the State for parking fees. Motion by Scott Zimmerman to recommend to the Board of Selectmen to leave fees alone and that the town absorb the tax. Second by Paul Maxwell. Motion was approved.

Tom Banisch, who is also running for first selectman, asked Director Scot Erskine as to the condition of the Portable Ice rink and would it be able to be erected this winter somewhere possibly in the downtown area, meeting minutes state.
Erskine said he would see what the condition was and report back. Maxwell indicated that the pond on Flintlock might be a possibility if some overgrowth could be cleared as the Land Trust had done several years ago.
