Police Say Be On The Lookout For Bobcats, Keep Pets Indoors
With bobcats around, it's a good idea to make sure pets, and domestic animals like chickens, are not allowed to be outdoors alone.
MADISON, CT — According to the Madison 911 Dispatchers Facebook page, there's been a spate of bobcat sightings in town with the most recent one Tuesday afternoon in the area of Horse Pond Road and Old Duck Hole Road.
Police caution that residents should not allow domestic animals and pets outside unsupervised.
According to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, in Connecticut, "bobcats prey on cottontail rabbits, woodchucks, squirrels, chipmunks, mice, voles, white-tailed deer, birds, and, to a much lesser extent, insects and reptiles. Bobcats, on occasion, may also prey on unsupervised domestic animals, including small livestock and poultry."
