Voting In The Presidential Primary: What You Need To Know
If you plan to vote in the Presidential Primary in Connecticut in April, an FYI: Jan. 28 is the last day to change party affiliation.
MADISON, CT — The Presidential Preference Primary will be held on April 28, 2020 for the State of Connecticut. Polling hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. To vote in a party's primary you must be a member of the party.
Key Dates for the Presidential Primary
- January 28, 2020 – last day to change party affiliation (e.g., Democratic, Republican, Independent, Working Families or Green). If a party change is made after this date, you will NOT be eligible to vote in your new or old party primary.
- April 23, 2020 – Mail registration deadline to join a party (must have been Unaffiliated on January 28, 2020 and continuously thereafter up until request to join a party).
- April 27, 2020 – NOON – In-person deadline to join a party (must have been Unaffiliated on January 28, 2020 and continuously thereafter up until request to join a party).
