Report: Madison's Share of State Aid Being Cut $141,000
But town officials say a budget surplus from last year will help reduce the impact on the reduction in state aid.

It’s no secret that Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is proposing a new round of budget cuts impacting local communities and Madison town officials say they expect to have their share of state aid slashed by $141,000, according to meeting minutes from a recent Board of Selectmen meeting.
But the news isn’t all bad. Town officials say because the 2014-15 fiscal year, which ended with a surplus it will help alleviate some of the impacts of the aid reduction Madison receives from the state.
Town officials say more building fees and taxes were collected than anticipated, which helped lead to the surplus, meeting minutes state.
