Roads And Bike Paths To 2 Beach Areas at Hammonasset State Park Closed

The roads and bike paths will be open on weekends, state officials said.

MADISON, CT — State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials said Tuesday that roads and bike paths to two beach areas at Hammonasset Beach State Park - Meigs and East Beach – are closed because of a project that is underway to improve water and electrical systems within the park.

The construction work will require the roads and bike paths to those areas to remain closed on weekdays for the next several weeks, officials said. The work will be stopped and equipment moved, however, so that these roads and bike paths can be used on the weekends.

While the project is underway, the Meigs Point Nature Center is also closed week days. Plans call for it to be accessible and open on weekends.
