There were extra police officers present at the school on Friday, no issues were reported. The rumors surfaced on social media.

MADISON, CT — Madison's top school officials say rumors of a threat directed at Daniel Hand High School last week was unfounded but the school system did have extra police officers at the school on Friday, according to a joint statement released by Superintendent of Schools Thomas Scarice and Daniel Hand Principal Anthony Salutari.

In a statement sent to parents and students, the educators said Friday, "As you may or may not be aware, there is a rumor that a threat directed at Daniel Hand High School was made on social media. The Madison Police Department was made aware of this possible threat and investigated this concern.

At this time, we have been informed that there is no credible threat. Due to several concerns the police department received from school community members, they offered an additional police presence at the high school today as a precaution. Because of our strong partnership, we always welcome any member of the Madison Police Department to our schools.
