Say It Ain't So, Papa Joe! Madison's 'Good Humor' Icon Retires
Joe Barbato manned the ice cream truck for 27 years. He leaves it in the "coach's" hands.

MADISON, CT — After 27 years, Joe Barbato, best known as Papa Joe, is retiring as Madison's Good Humor Ice Cream man, and has sold the truck to former Madison Youth Lacrosse president and coach Jim Rinere, reports New Haven Register.
Barbato, 87, has seen countless customers who were kids when he started out grow up to have kids of their own, which has made the job enjoyable.
Rinere and his family moved to Madison 22 years ago, and told the publication that he is excited to take over the gig as a way to stay close to many of the children and families he coached.
