MADISON, CT — The School of Rock in Madison will celebrate its grand re-opening with a free, public event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 28, organizers announced.
The event, at the music school's location at 845 Boston Post Road, will include guided tours, light refreshments, and a live performance by the School of Rock Madison Houseband. The program is intended to showcase the school’s performance-based approach to music education.
School of Rock Madison is owned by Jorgen and Melissa Taylor, local residents whose children have previously participated in School of Rock programs. Their son studied guitar at the school for several years, and their daughter took vocal lessons.

"Jorgen and I could not be more excited to be part of the Madison community by providing a positive, welcoming space where students and instructors can grow, build confidence, and share their love of music," said Melissa Taylor in a statement. "School of Rock Madison is truly special, and we’re committed to preserving its culture while creating opportunities for even more musicians, kids and adults alike."
Both Taylors have musical backgrounds. Melissa sang in chorus and played flute growing up, while Jorgen played trumpet through high school and was influenced by his father’s involvement in a band. The family cites artists such as Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, and Heart as part of their musical influences.
