MADISON, CT — As of Monday, Madison Public Schools has 57 active student, and 16 active employee, coronavirus cases.

The district received a supply of at-home COVID-19 rapid tests, though not enough for all, schools Superintendent Dr. Craig Cooke said in a message to families Monday. The test kits are only for students who are experiencing symptoms, he said.

Cooke said tests "would be taken at home once the student is out of the school building at the families' discretion." No testing will be done in school by nursing staff.

Cooke also said that as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently announced that young people age 12 to 17 are now eligible for booster shots if they are five months past their second dose administration date of the Pfizer vaccine, the East Shore District Health Department has compiled a list of vaccine clinics happening throughout the area.
