Shoreline Children Stock Food Pantries in Branford, Clinton and Madison

The campers collected non-perishable food.

More than 250 children from 12 shoreline towns held a food drive for soup kitchens and pantries in Branford, Madison and Clinton. All of the children were campers at Dustin’s Place, a Christian Summer Camp that takes place at Killam’s Point in Branford every year.

The campers collected non-‐ perishable food and placed it in hundreds of backpacks and tote bags that they designed during the Gifts from God’s People program at camp. The children also included special items that they created in arts and crafts.

In the past, Dustin’s Place campers have made stuffed animals for patients and families at Yale-‐New Haven Children’s Hospital and provided school supplies for children in Haiti after the earthquake there. Giving to others is an important part of the overall program at Dustin’s Place according to Colleen and Skip Church, who founded the camp in honor of their son Dustin who was killed by a drunk driver. Dustin’s Place is a non-‐profit organization that features kayaking, archery, swimming, fishing, caving, games, arts and crafts and learning about Jesus.
