'Solar Eclipses: A Celestial Phenomenon' At Madison's E.C. Scranton Memorial Library
The presentation, by NASA Solar System Ambassador Geoff McLean, is in preparation of the upcoming near total eclipse in April.

Join NASA Solar System Ambassador Geoff McLean for a presentation about solar eclipses in preparation for the upcoming near total eclipse on April 8th, 2024. McLean will cover safe viewing methods, including vision protection and telescope usage. He will address several topics, including how the sun produces the warmth we feel, why an eclipse occurs, and the history of some past eclipses and their impact on civilizations. McLean will ultimately take the audience outside for a stargazing session with a professional telescope, which will target highlights of the winter sky such as Jupiter and the Orion Constellation.
