Solar-Powered Trash and Recycling Units Unveiled in Madison: Report
The new units are stationed downtown and officials hope to add more in the future.

MADISON, CT — Madison officials are taking steps to enhance recycling efforts downtown and improve garbage pickup.
The town has placed three new high-tech trash compacting and recycling units downtown, the Madison Source reports.
There are a couple of cool things about this including that town officials can monitor remotely when the cans get full as they have sensors on them. The new units are also solar-powered.

Town officials told the Source that they will save gas by not having to drive around and check to see if the cans are full. Officials hope to add similar units in other parts of the town too. A grant paid for a portion of the costs and the town chipped in $13,500.
