Special Education Update For Madison Public Schools
Madison Schools Superintendent Thomas Scarice delivers an update on the direction position.

Written by Madison Schools Superintendent Thomas Scarice,
Good afternoon,
As the week comes to a close I am very pleased to provide parents with an update regarding our Special Education Director, Dr. Elizabeth Battaglia. As you are aware, Dr. Battaglia has been on temporary leave under the provisions of the Family with Medical Leave Act (FMLA). In the interim, Lois Pernice has served as the Director in her absence.

I am writing to inform you that Dr. Battaglia will begin to return from her leave on a part-time basis, beginning on Monday October 29, with a potential return to full-time status on Monday November 12. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Battaglia return to her position and anticipate a very smooth transition process with our Interim Director, Lois Pernice. Mrs. Pernice will remain with the district until Dr. Battaglia resumes full-time status.
If you have any questions about your child's programming, I ask that you contact your child's Principal, Special Education Coordinator, or case manager, regarding your child's program.
