U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney Visits Madison; Briefed on Center Project, Old Train Station Parking Lot Plans

The center project has been delayed a few weeks but is set to now begin soon.

US Representative Joe Courtney visited with officials from the town in downtown Madison on Friday, August 21.

Representative Courtney was provided with an update on the Madison Center Project, which is slated to begin in the coming weeks. The project, which had been scheduled to start earlier this month was delayed a few weeks due to additional information required by Connecticut DOT, since the construction takes place in a State Highway right-of-way.

The group also discussed the Town’s negotiations with Amtrak and CT DOT for the temporary use of the old train station parking lot at Wall Street and Bradley Road. The town wishes to use that lot for municipal parking, which will increase available parking on Wall Street and downtown. Despite the rain, Representative Courtney toured downtown and the Amtrak parking lot on Wall Street after a brief meeting in the conference room at Coldwell Banker.
