MADISON, CT – Noise and congestion in the Green Hill Road area of town due to upgrades being done on utility lines was the subject of discussion at the most recent Board of Selectmen meeting.
Eversource has been doing the working – 7 days a week, 12 hours a day – on the area, and the work is slated to continue for months, not concluding until the end of November.

Eversource submitted a report to the selectmen which said the extra work “is necessary to stay on schedule to complete the work on time.”
The report said, “It is unlikely we’ll need to work every Sunday during this time. We’ll make every effort to complete our work during the regular work hours of 7 a.m. To 7 p.m., Monday-Saturday.”

The company said part of the reason for the 7-day a week work schedule was that the hurricanes in Florida and Texas resulted in delays in major equipment being delivered to Connecticut from major manufacturers.
Selectmen noted that Eversource only needed approval from the state, and not the town to perform the work.
They also noted that when the work is finally completed it will be a benefit to all in Madison.
