As the summer comes to a close, members of the Vista Rotaract Club gathered for their second harvest from their vegetable garden on Vista Life Innovations’ Madison Campus. The garden project started with an idea discussed among club members in 2021, with the intention of yielding fresh produce for members of the Vista Community to enjoy as farm-to-table meals.

With the support and consistent effort put forth by Vista’s Rotaract Advisor Michael Perry and former Guilford Rotarian, Bill Stableford, a grant from the Rotary District was used to fund this project. Vista greatly appreciates the effort Michael and Bill have put into creating this enriching opportunity for Vista students, members, and staff.

Through collaboration, the club was able to successfully produce various vegetables, which included tomato, cucumber, lettuce, pepper, and eggplant. Each Vista Rotaract member played a role in digging, planting, watering, and harvesting the garden. They have already begun to see the “fruits” of their labors with an abundance of veggies served at Vista Community meals. Margaret Carpenter-Dove, Vista Rotaract Vice President, stated, "It is really nice to contribute to my Vista Community. Knowing that my peers enjoy these vegetables is a great reward."

This harvest is just the beginning of the Vista Rotaract Garden. The club hopes to continue this project for years to come.
