Watermelons, Tomatoes Still Available At Farmers Markets
Madison shoppers might be pleasantly surprised at the summer vegetable offerings.

Summer vegetables like swiss chard, kale and collard greens have succumbed to the colder temperatures but many summer vegetables, like peppers, corn, eggplants and tomatoes are still hanging in there.
"They looked great and they ate great," said Rick Macsuga of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture of the the corn and tomatoes he brought home this weekend.
Macsuga said he was pleasantly surprised to find watermelons at one market. He added that, at this time of year, the availability of summer varieties depends on the who the farmers are and where they are growing.
"It's getting to be that time of year but I was impressed with the amount of product they had," he said.
