Woman Wanted in Madison Flees Police Custody in Orange, Quickly Caught: Police
Orange police say the entire incident began at Kohl's and they were able to identify the suspect because she left her identification behind.

Orange police say officers responded to the Kohl’s store at 250 Bull Hill Lane for a reported shoplifting on Nov. 2.
Officers learned that the arrestee, Eliana Perez, 32, of Blatchely Avenue in New Haven, had allegedly taken $486 worth of clothing and shoes from the store without paying, police said.
She was stopped by store security and detained for police. When officers arrived, she broke away from custody and jumped into a nearby vehicle, then allegedly fled the scene, police said.

The arrestee had left behind a bag with her identification, including address, in it at the scene, police said. Officers then responded to her location and took her into custody there, police said.
Officers later learned that she was also wanted by the Madison and Branford Police Departments.

Those warrants were served at the time of the Orange Police Department arrest.
She is charged with sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, escape from custody, disobeying an officer’s signal, and driving a motor vehicle while under suspension.
She was ordered initially held on a $50,000 bond.
