130 MPH Chase Leads To Manchester Man's Arrest: Report

A Manchester man is facing seven criminal charges after leading authorities on a chase from Massachusetts into north central Connecticut.

UNION, CT — A Manchester man is facing seven criminal charges after leading authorities on a chase from Massachusetts into north central Connecticut, state police said. A report on the Nov. 30 incident involving 33-year-old Ryan Moeremans was made available this week.

It was 7 a.m. on Nov. 30 when state police in Connecticut received a message from their colleagues in Masschusetts to expect a suspected stolen vehicle to be crossing the state line, a report indicates. When it crossed the state line in Union, the car was traveling at 106 mph, according to a report.

Troopers chased the vehicle over a 6-mile stretch with speeds reaching 130 mph, a report indicates. With the morning commute beginning, troopers had to call off the pursuit for safety reasons, but eventually caught up to the driver, identified as Moeremans, at his address on Jeffrey Drive in Manchester, according to a report.

The car wound up being a family vehicle, according to a report.

Moeremans was charged with driving under suspension, reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, improper passing, a lane violation, interfering with police, and second-degree reckless endangerment, according to a report.
