MANCHESTER, CT — Two juveniles were arrested and two more are being sought following an attempted car burglary on Pioneer Circle early Saturday morning which culminated when the four youths fled in what turned out to be a stolen sport utility vehicle, according to police.

Police were notified around 12:23 a.m. of an active burglary to a motor vehicle involving three males. The suspects were seen entering a white SUV after the complainant interrupted the burglary, and the SUV fled, Lt. Ryan Shea said.

Police saw a white Mazda CX-9 fleeing the area at a high rate of speed, operating erratically without its lights on West Center Street. Officers did not engage the vehicle in pursuit as it headed west, Shea said

The white Mazda was located, and was determined to have been stolen from a home on South

Inside the Mazda, officers located drug paraphernalia, a vehicle window punch and a pocket knife which had the shape of a firearm when closed, Shea said.

Officers converged on the Pine Street area in search of the suspects, and two juveniles matching the earlier descriptions were found on Center Street. One of the youths fled on foot through yards on Center and West Center streets, but was quickly apprehended, Shea said.

Both juveniles were charged with first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. The one who ran from police was additionally charged with interfering with an officer, and the other had additional charges related to drugs and drug paraphernalia, Shea said

An extensive search for the other two youths involved was unsuccessful, the lieutenant added.
