8 Displaced In Manchester House Fire

MANCHESTER, CT — A fire broke out at a two-family house in Manchester Wednesday.

The initial call came in at 11:56 a.m. for the dwelling at 46 Madison Street. When firefighters arrived, they found flames in the basement, officials said.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from multiple spots andm at one point, cut their wat through a hatchway at get to the basement.

The fire was quickly brought under control, but eight people were displaced. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

No injuries were reported.

The local fire marshal's office is investigating the origin and cause, officials said.
