8 Students Attain the Rank of Black Belt

Hard work and dedication earn students Black Belts at Manchester Martial Arts School

On Saturday, 11/5/16, the The Academy of Martial Arts & Personal Development in Manchester, CT held a promotion test for 8 students earning 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th degree Black Belts in DaeHanMooDo, a traditional Korean martial art. The ceremony is the result of years of dedication, training and personal commitment. On average, it takes 5 years to earn the rank of Black Belt in DaeHanMooDo. Students had to demonstrate their knowledge of, and proficiency in, various aspects of DaeHanMooDo. Students received their ranks after participating in a test before a board of senior Black Belts from the school. An audience of supportive family and friends watched as each student performed their material for the testing board. Students that tested for Black Belt ranks: Elijah Polance, Cameron Hjalmeer, Kassandra Cruz, Daryl Larkin, Jose Rodriguez, Jr., Dr. James O’Brien, David Davies and Tiffany Jean.

An increasingly popular reason for enrolling children in the martial arts is to develop "Life Skills" in the students. The skills include discipline, self control, patience, confidence, courage, tolerance, honesty, respect and integrity among others. Training in a quality martial arts school reinforces those character building qualities that are timeless and transcend all cultural boundaries. Grandmaster Joel Waldron, Owner of The Academy of Martial Arts & Personal Development believes that "the martial arts are an invaluable tool in developing children into confident, capable members of society. Adults benefit from a positive, safe and challenging environment as well as the chance to constantly grow, mentally and physically.” For more information, about The Academy of Martial Arts & Personal Development, contact them by calling 860-646-7993, emailing at masterwaldron@gmail.com, visiting their website at www.TheAcademy.us or visiting the school at 440 Oakland Street, Manchester.
