American Classic “Holiday Inn” Hits the Stage at East Catholic HS

The 1942 film classic "Holiday Inn," will be brought to life on the stage by the students of East Catholic High School on March 6 and 7

The 1942 film classic “Holiday Inn,” will be brought to life on the stage by the students of East Catholic High School on March 6 and 7. The members of the school’s Stage East troupe will do three performances on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 and 7 p.m. in the East Catholic High School auditorium.

Heading the cast are:

  • Junior Leah Ansaldi – Bolton
  • Junior Morgan Chambers – Broad Brook
  • Junior Michael Chomick – East Hartford
  • Senior Danielle Savino – South Windsor
  • Senior Valentin Sandoval - Middletown

The production of Holiday Inn features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and was inspired by the 1942 film. The show features 20 musical numbers that are American classics. These include “Steppin’ Out with My Baby,” “Shaking the Blues Away,” “Easter Parade,” “Cheek to Cheek” and “Heatwave.”

East Catholic’s annual Spring Musical is directed and choreographed by Jillian Quackenbush, who heads East Catholic’s Performing Arts Program. “The audience will find it hard to sit still when the students belt out these songs, which are truly American musical standards,” she says. “It promises to be an exciting and entertaining performance.”

Tickets may be purchased at the door. Adult tickets are $7; children and seniors, $5 and East Catholic students $3.
