Manchester Again One Of Top CT Towns For Nip Bottle Sales

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester is again one of the top towns in the state in terms of nip alcohol bottles sold.

The Silk City is ranked sixth in Connecticut for the latest reporting period — from October 2025 through March
2026.

The 1.2 million bottles sold in Manchester over the past six months are consistent with the town's numbers each half-year since the Nickel per Nip program took effect in October 2021.

Through the program administered by the Wine and Spirit Wholesalers, every city and town in Connecticut receives 5 cents via a nickel surcharge for each nip sold within its borders. The funds are used for "environmental purposes," including community clean ups by non-profit organizations, street sweeper purchases, food composting programs, and hiring recycling staffers.

A total of 10 towns surpassed the 1 million mark in sales for the reporting period.
