MANCHESTER, CT — Two people riding a moped suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday night after a collision with a vehicle on Center Street, according to the Manchester Police Department.
Police said officers responded at about 8:51 p.m. to the area of 467 Center St. for a reported crash involving a moped and a motor vehicle.
A preliminary investigation found that a 17-year-old and a 12-year-old were traveling westbound together on the moped when they collided with a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old motorist traveling eastbound near 467 Center St.
Both moped riders sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and were transported to area trauma hospitals for treatment, police said. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Center Street was closed between Henderson Road and Victoria Road while officers processed the scene.
