MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester's first official Pet Mayor Tito will host a fall pet adoption fair Saturday, Oct. 3, at Northwest Park.
The Pet Mayor Tito Fall Pet Adoption Fair Extravaganza will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 448 Tolland Turnpike. The event is being organized by Friends of Pet Mayor Tito, a nonprofit organization representing the Manchester Cultural District's pet mayor.
The event will bring together pet rescue groups, adoptable animals, pet-related vendors and food vendors. Activities will include a pet costume contest, pet parade, games, face painting and live music.
Attendees will have an opportunity to meet animal welfare organizations, learn about available pets and find ways to support local shelters, rescue groups and pet welfare programs.
Well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome to attend with their families.
Friends of Pet Mayor Tito also collects and distributes pet supplies to municipal animal shelters, rescue organizations, pet food pantries and families experiencing temporary hardship.
According to the organization, its efforts have resulted in the collection and distribution of nearly three tons of dog kibble, along with thousands of cans and other pet supplies, throughout Connecticut.
The organization promotes pet adoption and responsible pet ownership and works to help families keep their pets during periods of financial hardship.
Friends of Pet Mayor Tito is seeking pet-related vendors, rescue organizations, sponsors and volunteers to participate in the Oct. 3 event.
Community members can also support the organization by donating unopened pet food, treats, toys, blankets, leashes, collars and other pet supplies for animals in need.
