MANCHESTER, CT — Superintendent of Schools Matthew Geary has announced the appointment of a coronavirus "health and safety compliance liaison, " two new elementary school principals and an administrator in charge of "equity."

Buckley Elementary School Principal Matt Daly will move into the role of "COVID-19 health and safety compliance liaison," after 10 years leading the school. Daly will oversee quality, safety, hygiene and environmental standards for the school system.

Keeney Elementary School Principal Ann Johnston will take over as principal at Buckley. Before Keeney, Johnson was an assistant principal at Verplank Elementary School.

Keeney Assistant Principal Althea Barnes will take over as principal.

Barnes was previously a special education administrator and school psychologist.

Diane Clare-Kearney, a 30-year veteran of the school system, will become director of equity and adult education.
