ART of the Spoken Word

We use words everyday and sometimes not so eloquently.  The Spoken Word is a powerful art form ,evoking emotional connections, taking grasp of imagination  in a way like nothing else. They say you cannot judge a book by its cover, opening one reveals hidden and often misunderstood treasures. 

Diversity in style, content and personality made for an unexpected diversion from ritualistic habits we often fall into. Friday night, a gathering of souls filled a room on the lower level of Cheney Hall in Manchester, CT. Five very different artists of the Spoken Word shared their work with an audience that by chance experienced the evening visioning the world through the words of a poet.

Night's end brought with it the selection of the the town's first Poet Laureate. The Manchester ARTS Commission is on a mission to support and encourage the Creative Spirit. Mayor Jay Moran declared town resident Julia Paul to be the first to represent Manchester as the Poet Laureate.

The ARTS have taken root and have begun to sprout up all over the place. Congratulations to all of the participants, you have made Manchester a better place by using your words so very eloquently.
