I know I am dating myself, but the first time I heard the term “Being of Service” was during a seminar called the “EST Training”. I did the seminar with my wife and brother in June of 1982 in Boston. Along with 267 others, two weekends and 18 hour a days. I had a pretty tough time in the seminar.
The concept of “Being of Service” was a struggle until I finally figured it out during another seminar in Sept. of 1983, again part of EST and this time for 6 days, where I finally “Got It”. The seminar was in upper state NY and this time there were 108 people from all over the world. I finally learned the meaning of “Being of Complete Service”. I know some of this may be a little tough to understand, but you will soon see where I am going with this.
So what is the point, I am being of complete service to Gail before, during and after her rotator cuff surgery. What I learned so many years ago, came back to me like it was yesterday. Anytime that my ego got in the way, I got out of the way, to only focus on being of complete service to make sure Gail got exactly what she needed.
After so many years later, thank you Werner and all that you had a hand in my learning, it made me a better man, husband and father.
