MANCHESTER, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- The men's track and field team at Eastern Connecticut State University's recently concluded its 2018-19 indoor season. Among the student athletes were Manchester residents Ryan Adams, who majors in Sport and Leisure Management and participated in distance running events, and Kyle Smith, who majors in Communication and participated in mid-distance and distance running events. While competing at the New England Division III Championships in Cambridge, MA, the team earned qualifications in long jump and triple jump, set personal career bests and outscored their own individual records. The outdoor season is set to begin on March 23 at Ursinus College.
- The Theatre Program at Eastern Connecticut State University presented "The Wolves" as its first production of the spring 2019 semester. Running from Feb. 27-March 3 in the DelMonte Studio Theatre, "The Wolves" is a coming-of-age story that takes place on the turf of a local indoor soccer field. Among those who made the production a success was Julia Luz Setzler of Manchester, who majors in Theatre. The play was performed by an all-female cast, directed by Theatre Professor Kristen Morgan and written by award-winning playwright Sarah DeLappe. Setzler was one of the electricians and part of the set construction crew.

- Cara M. Fiamma of Manchester graduated Cum Laude from Western New England University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences on February 15, 2019.
