Car With Child In It Stolen, Child Later Dropped Off: PD [Video]

A car with a child inside was taken in Manchester, but the child was later safely dropped off.

MANCHESTER, CT — A car with a 1-year-old child in it was stolen in Manchester Monday afternoon, police said.

Police said the incident took place at about 1:30 p.m.

The car, described by police as a grey, 2022 Lexus RX 350 with Connecticut registration BD96999, was stolen from a parking lot at 74 Main St. with the child inside, police said.

The child was located on Summit St. in Manchester and it is believed the suspect removed the child and car seat from the vehicle before continuing to flee, police said. The child was unharmed and he was reunited with his mother, police said.

The vehicle was then seen on the eastbound side of Interstate-84 near East Hartford. It was found at about 3 p.m unoccupied in Manchester, police said.

Police are still investigating the incident and late Monday afternoon released an image of the car. Investigators are asking anyone with information on the case to call 860-645-5500.
