“ Case Mountain Recreational Area encompasses 640 acres (2.6 km2) of combined open space and watershed land stretching from the border north to Case Pond. Some trails lead south across the Glastonbury border to a larger area of land owned by the Town of Manchester to maintain the Buckingham Reservoir and provide drinking water to Manchester. The land around the reservoir is open to recreation. While there is a hill named Case Mountain in this area, locals refer to this entire trail system and forest in Manchester and Glastonbury simply as “Case Mountain.” (Source: Wikipedia)

According to the Town of Manchester Recreation Department, the white blazed Carriage Path fire road is the most widely used route to the summit of Lookout Mountain (elevation 744 feet) with panoramic views of the western hills and the skyline of Hartford. This route is directly accessed from the Case Pond or Spring St. trailheads. At a brisk pace, the summit can be reached in 25 minutes. Case Pond provides seasonal licensed fishing and can be accessed from the Carriage Path.” Case Mountain Trails

We trudged the pink trail and it took us an hour at least to reach the summit. On our way to the top, it was refreshing to see hikers with their best friends - two-legged and four-legged-- tagging along. At the summit, there were benches to take a breather from the long walk or just to enjoy the stupefying vistas from above. The views of Downtown Manchester and the Hartford Skyline are the prize for making it to the top. To reach the top was the intense desire that propels the hikers to climb up the rocky but friendly terrain. It did not take much energy to trek downhill because you can choose a path your body can easily navigate through, Below is a magnificent man-made falls that will capture your attention before entering the trails to the Case Mountain.
