Cassano Being Honored For Contributions To Manchester Children
Longtime former lawmaker and town official Stephen Cassano is being honored by the Mayor's Program for Manchester Children.

MANCHESTER, CT — The Mayor's Program for Manchester Children will be celebrating the career of Stephen Cassano in a Thursday dinner at Villa Louisa in Bolton.
Cassano was first elected to public office as the deputy mayor of Manchester in 1977. He served as mayor from 1991 to 2005 at a time that included the development of Buckland Hills, the redevelopment of Main Street, and a major expansion of new industrial parks.
He taught sociology at Manchester Community College for 28 years.

Cassano was elected to the senate in 2010 and served serve on four committees in 2011 – chair of Planning and Development and member of Transportation, Public Safety and Security and Program Review and Investigations.
Cassano started and chaired The Mayor's Program for Manchester Children in 1996. The program has given more than $1 million to Manchester children and has helped promote the programs of many Manchester youth-oriented clubs, organizations, and agencies.
