Cheney Family Establishes New MCC Foundation Endowment
The gift will be disbursed from the Cheney Family Fund.

MANCHESTER, CT — The MCC Foundation is the recent recipient of donations to establish the Cheney Family Endowed Scholarship Fund to support need-based full- or part- time students enrolled in a credit-bearing degree or certificate program at Manchester Community College.
The gift will be disbursed from the Cheney Family Fund, a donor-advised fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, established in 1990.
The Cheneys are long-time supporters of the college and, in fact, a dining room in the college's Culinary Arts Center was named for the family in 2007. The Cheney Dining Room is named for the founders of what would become the world's largest silk mill and who were responsible for Manchester being known as what has been called an "ideal industrial community."

The naming of the dining room acknowledged the Cheney family's "indelible stamp on the Manchester community and the historic significance of their contributions to MCC’s service area," school officials said.
With the MCC Foundation, an endowment fund can be established with a gift of $10,000 or more. Donors are acknowledged on the college’s Donor Wall.
