We were busy bringing gifts to a few of our neighbors and friends. Many of the homes were very much alive with family conversations, children and presents.
The daughter of one of our neighbors took me aside and said, I’m sorry I haven’t called you about a mortgage, I know it has been many months, but I am scared to death. She said, I must have picked up the phone a dozen times to call you, but got cold feet each time.
What are you afraid of I asked. Everyone I know that has gone through the mortgage process talks about it as having gone through H**L. She said, I just don’t know if I have the stomach for it, especially after reading about more stringent regulations.
Let’s look at it this way, sure the process might be a pain in the A$$, but the longer you put off buying a home, the more it may cost and interest rates could be higher. Is it worth, being afraid of the process to give up one of your dreams?
She is not alone, millions across the country are feeling the same way. With all that is being written about mortgages and how difficult they may be to obtain going forward, we all need to do a better job when we speak to prospective home buyers, so that they can attain the American dream.
