MANCHESTER, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Several Eastern Connecticut State University students are volunteering with local preschool children through Jumpstart, an AmeriCorps program that supports the language and social skills of children from low-income areas. Among the student volunteers is Tyler Adorno of Manchester, who majors in Pre-Elementary Education and Women's and Gender Studies. Eastern students who apply for Jumpstart are interviewed and then divided into teams that work together in local classrooms. Every team follows an assigned curriculum and designs stimulating activities to engage the children.
Georgia State University, Atlanta GA

- Fariha Rashid of Manchester was named to the fall 2018 Dean's List at Georgia State University. To be eligible for the Dean's List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester.
Springfield College, Springfield MA
- Springfield College has named three Manchester students to the dean's list for academic excellence for the fall 2018 term. They are Katelynn Grabowski, studying Human Services; Monique Moncrieffe, studying Human Services; and Tiffany Smith, studying Human Services.Criteria for selection to the dean's list requires that the student must have a minimum semester grade point average of 3.500 for the semester.
