Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Business Information Systems Program and Department of Computer Science held its annual Upsilon Pi Epsilon International Honor Society induction ceremony on May 1 in the Johnson Room of the J. Eugene Smith Library. A total of 28 new members were inducted into the honor society. Inductees from Manchester were Margaret Guinan, who majors in Business Information Systems, and Erick Smith, who majors in Music and Business Information Systems.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Communication Department hosted its annual honor society induction and award ceremony on April 25. At the event 34 new members were inducted into the Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society and awarded for their outstanding accomplishments in the communication major. Upwards of 200 faculty, family, friends and honorees attended the ceremony. Among the honored was Sherry Sah of Manchester, who majors in Communication. Sah was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta and presented with an award for Excellence in Leadership Communication.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University's History Department held an award ceremony for its graduating seniors on May 8. Students were awarded for their academic achievements in the history major. Among the honored was Dana Meyer of Manchester, who majors in History. Meyer was presented with the Outstanding History Major Award.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Health Sciences held its fourth annual award ceremony on April 25. Sixteen students were inducted into the Phi Theta Delta Health Sciences Honor Society and 27 students were awarded for their academic achievements in the major. Among the honorees was Brendan Reynolds of Manchester, who majors in Health Sciences. Reynolds was inducted into Phi Theta Delta.

  • Fariha Rashid of Manchester earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University during the spring 2019 semester. The university conferred bachelor's degrees to more than 2,000 during the institution's 104th commencement exercises held in May.

Plymouth State University, Plymouth NH

  • Maggie Gepfert of Manchester has been named to the Plymouth State University President's List for the spring 2019 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 or better and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester. Gepfert is a Social Work major at Plymouth State.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) President Laurie Leshin and Board of Trustees Chairman Jack Mollen presided over the university's 151st Commencement celebration, awarding over 850 master's and doctoral degrees at the Graduate Ceremony, held on the campus Quadrangle. Blakeley Williams of Manchester was awarded a master of science degree in mechanical engineering, and Christopher Jelks of Manchester was awarded a master of science degree in systems engineering.
