MANCHESTER, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eighteen Eastern Connecticut State University students are participating in percussion ensembles this spring 2019 semester. The Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Group and World Percussion Ensemble each offer an opportunity for instrumentalists to perform exclusively on percussion instruments in a chamber setting. Among the student musicians is Erick Smith of Manchester, who majors in Music and Business Information Systems. Smith is in the Percussion Ensemble and the World Percussion Ensemble.
  • The Samul Ensemble at Eastern Connecticut State University is amid its spring 2019 season of performance. The Samul Ensemble is an instrumental ensemble comprised of Korean percussion instruments. Among the 11 students participating in this ensemble is Kayla Palmer of Manchester, who majors in English and plays the Buk.

  • Kari Borley, Heidi Hawn, Megan Maine-Ludlow, Matthew McKee, Francesca Palmer, Alexander Salamatian, Christina Torres-Salas and Kali Tyler, all of Manchester, were named to the fall 2018 full-time resident's List at MCC. Full-time students who have completed at least 12 credits for the semester with no withdrawals or incomplete grades in the semester are eligible for this honor. Part-time students who have earned a 4.0 GPA with no withdrawals or incompletes in the semester - and have accumulated 12 credits at MCC - are eligible for the Part-Time President’s List.
