MANCHESTER, CT — A hiring spree for Walmart amid "strong demand demand in stores" related to the coronavirus is translating to 1,275 new associates on Connecticut, according to a news release issued Friday.

Walmart is hiring 150,000 people nationwide to work in stores, clubs, distribution centers and fulfillment centers, according to the release.

Walmart is also implementing a new process to "dramatically expedite hiring" for key roles, like cashiers and stockers. What is usually a two-week application cycle will be reduced to a 24-hour process, store officials said.
