A Curfew in Manchester

Regarding a Curfew in Manchester Ct. : A curfew is a bad idea that won't work. We cannot expect our Police Officers to have the added duty of checking to see if someone is a minor and if they have a note from mommy to be out after midnight. Are we going to start asking people for their papers? In an era when our Officers are not supposed to question or arrest Illegal Immigrants, I am not crazy about them having to question young citizens as to their destination or otherwise. Better alternatives exist: Block watches and Campaigns to involve the community in policing are better directions to take. Above all parents must be engaged in the activities and whereabouts of their children. They above all must be held accountable for the actions their children are involved in. Minors out stealing cars or other property are not going to care about a curfew anymore than they do about taking a car. Maybe those parents will care when they carry monetary responsibility for the damage incurred by a child in their care
