Duplex Fire Displaces 13 In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester Fire Rescue EMS crews responded to a fire at a duplex on Florence Street Wednesday morning that displaced 13 people.

The blaze at 86-88 Florence St. broke out at the rear of the home and strong winds pushed it into the second floor and attic, fire officials said. All five MFREMS companies and two from the 8th Utilities District were able to bring the fire under control within approximately 20 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

The building sustained fire, smoke and water damage and is "presently uninhabitable," fire officials said, adding that the cause is under investigation.
