Elderly Moped Rider Hurt In Manchester Collision

MANCHESTER, CT — An elderly man riding a moped was hurt in a collision with a car Thursday morning in Manchester, police said.

The crash took place at 5:51 a.m. at the intersection of Middle Turnpike East and Princeton Street, police said. The moped was being driven by a 71-year-old Manchester man and the car was being operated by a 54-year-old man from Orange, police said.

The moped rider was taken to Hartford Hospital with a serious leg injury, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The intersection was closed for some time and the roads were fully re-opened at 9:20 a.m., police said.
