EMS, Bob's Parent Files for Bankruptcy Protection

MANCHESTER, CT — The parent company of Bob's Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports filed for bankruptcy on Sunday morning.

The corporate entity for the two stores, Eastern Outfitters LLC, actually entered three distinct Chapter 11 filings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware — one for each store and a third for the gift cards related to each store.

No store closings were announced. Chapter 11 status allows a company to continue operating while its debts are restructured.

In the filing, Eastern Outfitters claims no more than 49 creditors with an estimated liability of between $100 million and $500 million.
