
Three local children’s authors will be featured at a bookfair to support the Connecticut chapter of Room to Read on April 14 at Barnes & Noble of Manchester in The Shoppes at Buckland Hills.
The bookfair, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will also feature various activities for children.
During the fair, Barnes & Noble shoppers can use a special voucher with book fair ID number (10684512) to have 10 percent of the cost of their purchases go to support Room to Read, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy. Vouchers will be available from libraries and various businesses in the area.

The fundraising aspect of the bookfair runs for one day in Barnes & Noble stores, but runs for five days online (www.bn.com/bookfairs) from April 14 to 19. Shoppers simply have to provide the code number (10684512) during the purchase process. (NOTE: The voucher number can be used for purchases in any Barnes & Noble store on April 14.)
Beginning at 10 a.m. on April 14 in the Manchester store, volunteers from the Central Connecticut chapter of Room to Read will coordinate different in-store events such as story-telling, games, puzzles and more. Featured authors will include:

11 a.m. - Fantasy adventure novelist P.W. Catanese, “The Books of Umber”
Noon - Lynn Eddy, author of “Every Body Loves Yoga”
1 p.m. – Local children’s author Pegi Deitz Shea, “The Taxing Case of the Cows”
Room to Read is a nonprofit organization that distributes books, builds libraries and promotes literacy in developing countries.
