Bennett Hennessey has rediscovered three species once thought to have vanished, collected sound recordings of more than 1,300 wild birds and devoted his life to the conservation of South America's majestic winged creatures, and on Tuesday, October 9, at The Parrot Club's monthly meeting in East Hartford, he will share a visually stunning presentation on his efforts to save endangered macaws from extinction.
The public is invited to attend the program, "The Macaws of Bolivia," which begins at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7) at the Veterans Memorial Clubhouse in East Hartford, Connecticut. With 12 species of macaws, Bolivia is the ideal place to observe some of South America's largest and most colorful birds. Hennessey, who serves as Executive Director of the non-profit conservation organization Asociación Armonía, has exciting tales to tell about these birds and their world, and the challenges they face.
Admission to the program is free for members of The Parrot Club, the state's oldest companion bird club. There is a $3 admission fee for non-members. For more information about this event, visit the organization's Web site, www.theparrotclub.org.
