MANCHESTER, CT — The final process is under way for the town of Manchester to purchase a portion of 683 Vernon St. for open space purposes.

Director of Planning and Economic Development Gary Anderson said the land in question totals about 16 acres and he added the land has been on the town's radar for some time. The land is listed on several outlets for $185,000.

The ultimate decision on the purchase price should come on March 7, when the Manchester Board of Directors discuses it. The matter is on the agenda for that meeting.

The funding would come from the municipal account dedicated for open space purchases, Anderson said.

Per state law, the local Planning and Zoning commission is required to review the purchase. That review is slated for the PZC's March 6 meeting.
